Hi, my name is Zac Baylis
I’m a design engineer, MIT Master of Business Analytics student and cofounder of Ligara. My work spans machine learning, robotics and physical product development.
Before MIT, I completed an MPhil in Engineering & Management at Cambridge, finishing first in my cohort. My haptic teleoperation research became a first-author paper accepted to ICRA 2026. I previously earned a First Class MEng in Design Engineering at Imperial, where my skin-lesion classification project won the IET Prize.
Every project here is split in two: product and process. That split is deliberate. Anyone can show you a finished object. The process is where the decisions live — and the decisions are the design. Portfolios that hide it are showing you the least interesting half.

Future Aims
I believe that understanding people is the key to being a successful design engineer, and so I wish to pursue my interests in human-centred design, pushing boundaries in both physical and digital domains. I have a current affinity for optimising problems in user interactions and operations across product ownership, which is what I am pursuing in my graduate and professional career.
