Hi, my name is Zac Baylis
I build things that turn data into something people can actually use. Right now that means machine learning and human-centred AI, studied at MIT Sloan in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where I'm reading for a Master's in Business Analytics.
Before MIT: an MPhil in Engineering & Management at Cambridge, where I finished first in my cohort and wrote a thesis on haptic teleoperation that's now a paper at ICRA 2026; and an MEng in Design Engineering at Imperial, First Class, for work on CNN-driven skin-lesion classification.
Every project here is split in two: product and process. That split is deliberate. Anyone can show you a finished object. The process is where the decisions live — and the decisions are the design. Portfolios that hide it are showing you the least interesting half.

Future Aims
I believe that understanding people is the key to being a successful design engineer, and so I wish to pursue my interests in human-centred design, pushing boundaries in both physical and digital domains. I have a current affinity for optimising problems in user interactions and operations across product ownership, which is what I am pursuing in my graduate and professional career.
